Wang Tau Hom is a small enclosed area adjoining Wong Tai Sin to the east, Beacon Hill to the east and Lok Fu to the south. For a long time, it was effectively a shanty town/squatter commune with people living in self-made homes; in the late 70s the government decided that these people probably would benefit from being re-settled into proper housing; so the whole area of Wang Tau Hom was designated a housing estate area. Construction and resettlement began in earnest in the late 70s and by around 1982 the first blocks for the housing estate for Wang Tau Hom were ready for use.
