Tuen Mun (屯門) is a modern, mostly residential area in North Western New Territories inhabited predominantly by locals. Tuen Mun is at the heart of the Golden Bay area and set to become a key interchange for a new ‘golden triangle’ of international traffic flows to and from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Macau and Zhuhai. Tuen Mun's gateway to mainland China is largely thanks to the opening of the Shenzhen Western Corridor after the Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link underwater highway began construction in mid-2013. The underwater highway is scheduled to shorten the travel time between Tuen Mun and the Hong Kong International Airport from 30 minutes to 10 minutes. Various strategically located logistics investments in the area are poised to benefit from the cross-border highway, which will no doubt provide a powerful stimulus to the residential property market as well. Although Tuen Mun is fast developing into a core urban area, it is home to a number of traditional-style markets including Tuen Mun Kau Hui (屯門舊墟), Tuen Mun San Hui (屯門新墟) and Sam Shing Hui (三聖墟).
