Tsuen Wan East (荃灣東) is a sub-district of Tsuen Wan and once an old market town. Many years ago, textile industrialists from China inhabited the area taking advantage of port facilities along the Rambler Channel - however, the thriving textile industry went into decline in the early 1980s due to a recession and a changing Hong Kong economy. Nowadays, Tsuen Wan East is a crowded city and only a few old remaining textile mills can be found interspersed amongst tenement buildings, luxury apartment towers, shopping malls and public housing estates. Residents of Tsuen Wan East, particularly Tsuen Wan New town, enjoy the highest income in the New Territories. Nina Tower, located in the area, is the sixth tallest building in Hong Kong. Notable attractions in Tsuen Wan include the Sam Tung Uk Museum, a restored Hakka walled village and agricultural museum that offers visitors an authentic insight into the lifestyle of New Territories’ villagers before the area became urbanised. Tsuen Wan Industrial Center on Texaco Road is a large industrial building with loading bays and good stud heights for manoeuvring containers in and around. The Kwai Tsing Container Terminal is a conveniently short drive away by taxi or car.
