Tin Wan (田灣) is a low-profile suburban area situated in the Southern part of Hong Kong Island near Aberdeen and overlooking Aberdeen Harbour. Although it lacks major shopping centres, an MTR station or a main attraction like the floating restaurant in Aberdeen, some first home buyers are willing to compromise providing they can find a good bargain in the area. Many apartments in Tin Wan have harbour views and can be purchased at a reasonably low price - usually at about 10 per cent less (on average) than prices in Aberdeen. Tin Wan also features a public housing estate called Tin Wan Estate (田灣邨), which once included 15 blocks built between 1962 and 1965 but this was replaced with 5 residential buildings during the year of the handover. Boarding Tin Wan and Aberdeen is the Aberdeen Chinese Permanent Cemetery.
