Siu Sai Wan (小西灣) is a small area adjoining Chai Wan. Many years ago whilst Hong Kong was still a British colony Siu Sai Wan had a large wireless communication base designed to spy on what the communist party was up to. It was demolished around the 80s and replaced with government housing estates. More recently, some high end residential complexes have sprung up because of the area's proximity to the sea. Siu Sai Wan is now one of the few areas left on Hong Kong island that still has a number of industrial buildings. It is considered (along with Chai Wan) the Eastern tip of the Hong Kong Island. The population of the district is around 29,050 and the age median is diverse, which the peaks of age are 34.5 and 52. Both of the districts have stations in the MTR.
