Ma Liu Shui

Backing onto Tai Po Kau Mountain, Ma Liu Shui (馬料水) is a sub-district of Sha Tin in the New Territories. It is situated adjacent to the Shing Mun river mouth and on the waterfront facing the Sha Tin Hoi (Tide Cove). Characterised by a well developed transport infrastructure network, Ma Liu Shui has both highway (the Tolo Highway) and railway (East Rail Line) connections making it a highly competitive location for residential development - in fact, the area has been earmarked as a potential location for coastal land reclamation and extension despite some strong public opposition. The Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works (STSTW) makes up a large proportion of the area. Notable places of interest include the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Science Park (the high tech space dedicated to innovation for enterprises large and small) as well as the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin.
