Hung Shui Kiu (洪水橋) is a rural residential village settlement in Northwest New Territories and an area where you are likely to see a number of machinery repair workshops and storage facilities. Hung Shui Kiu is may soon undergo some significant development in coming years - Hung Shui Kiu New Town is a new development area that is designed to meet the medium and long-term housing & economic needs in New Territories. As part of the new development area, existing workshop facilities will be moved to designated industrial zones and it is hoped that all of the developments will result in creating a regional economic and civic hub for the North Western New Territories area. The public residential housing estate called Hung Fuk Estate was completed in 2015 which has 4,900 flats, a shopping centre, and a market. Hung Shui Kiu could make a good place to set up an office too, especially for those looking for quick access to Mainland China. At present, Hung Shui Kiu has a light rail stop on the LRT, however, it is set to become integrated into the MTR network with the proposed Hung Shui Kiu Station on the West Rail Line between the existing Tin Shui Wai Station and Siu Hong Station. The planning of the new MTR station is likely a result of the investment in the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Airport Rail Link between Hong Kong International Airport and Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. The developments are said to improve the environment and create jobs for residents.
