Hong Lok Yuen (康樂園) is a town North West of Tai Wo MTR station that was built in the 1980s. The name Hong Lok Yuen translates to 'happy healthy garden' or 'leisure garden'. It has been said that Hong Lok Yuen has excellent Feng Shui due to the azimuth and the position of many of the buildings in relation to the mountains behind Hong Lok Yuen and, as a result, it is considered one of the more auspicious places in New Territories for generating money and power. If the real estate is anything to go by, then this could well be true, because a brief drive through of Hong Lok Yuen will draw your attention to spacious homes, sizeable gardens and lavish entrance gates. Hong Lok Yuen is described by locals as a fun and supportive community featuring a highly regarded international school, country parks and other outdoor activities.
