Tak Shing House 德成大廈

This building used to be called the "Doctor" building because there are so many clinics in it - nonetheless quite an iconic building in Central. At the time when it was built lift technology improved dramatically and instead of lifts supporting a maximum of 6 floors the new technology afforded them to support around 20 floors. This is one of the reasons why many buildings built prior to the 1960s were only 6 floors high - not because developers did not want taller buildings but because lifts could only service a maximum of 6 floors. The building management is quite fastidious; when you return the unit (upon expiry of tenancy) to them you have to re-instate everything to its original state and they will call you out on even the smallest of details...
